StatboyRésumé Rankings.

What it's based on

Who has earned the best season so far?

Results only: who each team beat, where, and by how much. Wins count more the better the beaten team is, and they're re-checked every week as opponents win or lose. Losses cost more when they're lopsided or against weaker teams. Road wins, head-to-head results and strength of schedule all count, with a little extra for beating AP Top 25 teams. Record Strength counts too: how a team's record compares with what a typical Top 25 team would do against the same schedule. A conference's strength is judged partly by how it does outside its own games, so teams can't prop each other up. Polls, preseason hype and brand names don't.

  • Quality wins
  • Record Strength
  • Top 25 wins
  • Losses
  • Margin of victory
  • Road wins
  • Head-to-head
  • Strength of schedule

Wins over good teams count most

Every win is worth more the better the beaten team is right now. Two wins over top-30 teams beat four wins over nobody.

Losses depend on who and how bad

A close loss to a top team costs little. Blowouts and losses to bad teams cost a lot.

Record Strength

Against this exact schedule, how many wins would a typical Top 25 team expect? Record Strength is a team's actual wins minus that number. +1.0 means a full win better than a Top 25 team would likely have done.

Re-checked every week

Opponents' results update every Sunday, so a win can gain or lose value even on a bye week. Road wins count more and home losses cost more. Head-to-head breaks close calls, but only for a team with no more losses than the team it beat.
